Start Wreck: The Web Comic (2004-2008)
“Start Wreck” is a Star Trek spoof web comic, expanded from my original short comic strip “Start Wreck: The Silly Generation” (see below). Any similarities with existing characters and names is entirely on purpose and many of the jokes are ripped off from episodes of Family Guy or scoured from either the web, or my twisted imagination. This web comic was updated once a week almost without fail for over three years, and currently stands at 141 episodes at the time of writing, including two animated special episodes for the 50th and 100th milestones. I eventually stopped regular updates as it was too time-consuming. Click below to go to the web comic pages, or click [here] to see the animated 100th episode.
Start Wreck – the original draft (2000)
I did this in July/August 2000 whilst on holiday in Portugal. All I was equipped with was a pencil, eraser and a blank pad of paper, with no other references. All things considered I think it turned out quite well, for a few hours work. Apologies for the size/formatting; this was scanned from the original sketch pad years ago.
Art & Design A-Level Unit 3 piece (1999-2000)
Chalk pastels became my specialty during my second year at college. I worked better on a large scale and this is what I came up with for my third and final Unit piece. This piece consists of chalk pastel on paper, with the exception of the newspaper which is composed of an actual newspaper collage and yet more charcoal. It is surrounded by a basic wooden frame with criss-cross wooden bars horizontally and vertically. A piece of transparent acryllic sheet was used to cover the entire piece. The desired effect here was to create a window into a junk shop look. Unfortunately the photograph has picked up some reflections here. Click for larger image.
